Get rid of Duplicate Page Titles

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I don’t know if it’s the theme, or the CSS (I’ve upgraded just to try to fix this issue). Unfortunately I’m a huge newb, and I can’t seem to get rid of the second “About” in the About page on http://www.abelin.net.

Is there something in CSS I can add to prevent such issues? And why is there so much space on top of the page? Thanks so much!

The first “About” is a menu item, linking to your page, whose title is “About”. That’s why you see two when in http://abelin.net/about/. I’m afraid you can’t change that, except by creating a custom menu with a link to the About page. In that case you can change the menu item’s text.

This theme unfortunately puts widgets only on the bottom, so even if I created a custom menu, the UX is completely botched. I really appreciate the feedback though; are there any other options besides changing the theme?

  • Yes, that theme definitely displays widgets on the bottom. There’s no way around that except to switch themes.

If you’re referring to your menu, you don’t need to use a widget for that. Your custom primary menu will replace the existing menu up top.

Hey, really appreciate the help first of all.

I tried setting up a custom menu in the Appearance > Menus section. I add the link for About, and I try to not give it a Title Attribute. Then I actually go the About page and delete the title. I’ve also tried to not have anything under the custom menu at all, and the page still comes up regardless as long as the About page is titled.

I’ve tried both ways where the “custom menu” is supposedly active, but no matter what, I have to keep the About me page titled or else it’ll disappear from the menu.

Would screenshots help? Sorry this is taking two of you guys to fix.

NO I LIED. I am just a big dunce; there is a Replace Menu option, which I forgot to highlight and Save. Thank you both! Do you guys have twitter? I’d like to thank you guys properly.
