Get user name of a registered but unused account

  My preferred user name is already registered. That’s bad luck. But it seems the corresponding account is not used any longer. Is there any chance to get the user name? Will the user name expire in case of be inactive.

  Only the original user name creator has access. WordPress.com staff will not give out the contact details. Even if someone abandoned the account, the name wouldn’t become available because it’s WordPress.com policy not to recycle names: https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
