getting a black screen when trying to play a video

    When trying to play a video, all I get is a black screen and the audio. I’m on a new HP with Windows 8 and I think it’s my settings, but I don’t know what to change. Choices are different than the ones on older computer. Ack!! Thanks, Kathy
