Getting a “dead” blog name?
-
I’d like to start a new blog on solar power technology, and my first article is about the recent news of a space-based power initiative in California. An obvious name for such a blog is “solarspace”, which works whether or not the following articles have anything to do with space power. It’s a space about solar power, it’s a solar power space, it’s a space power blog. Clever, no? Ok, no, but…
solarspace.wordpress.com has already been registered. But it’s dead. The German text translates to “Not Found”.
Is there a way to reclaim these sorts of dead names?

WordPress does not delete unused blogs – ever. You could try leaving a message on the blog and hope the owner contacts you and is willing to give it up. If you do not get a response, you might contact staff to see if they would forward a message to the blog owner.
