Getting a ‘The uploaded file is identified as malicious.’ error

On uploading a purchased plugin on a clients site, they received ‘The uploaded file is identified as malicious.’ error. Can you assist with troubleshooting this? Is this always a failure caused by detecting malicious code? Is there documentation to troubleshoot that error?

you must contact support of that plugin to know what’s going on. You also paid them for support.

I’m working with support, the zip scans clean but for this user they receive that error in wordpress.com. There is no wordpress.com documentation or details as to the failure, hence why I’m asking here in the forum.

Hi there,
What is the URL of the client’s site? Also, what is the plugin that you are trying to upload? Several plugins are incompatible with WordPress.com and thus will not allow you to upload them. To determine if the plugin in question is on the list of incompatible plugins, please visit our support page here:

Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you! -
The plugin is The Events Calendar Pro, a paid plugin downloaded from their account. They were attempting to upload to their wordpress.com admin. Not sure off their custom domain.

In order to get a closer look we will need to know the URL of the site, so as soon as you are able to provide that please let us know, thanks.
