Getting an email about a "pending upgrade"

    Eamail says: This is a reminder that your package WordPress on rossacademicresources.com/web-dev (public_html/web-dev) will be upgraded in the next 24 hours.

    I didn’t ask for any upgrade. I also changed the URL of my blog from the one they’re talking about to the one I posted.

    Is this a hoax of some kind?

    This sounds like you are running the self-hosted version of WordPress (WordPress.org).

    Some hosts perform managed WordPress updates to keep your site secure.

    Does the URL in the email look familiar? If so, try getting in touch with your web host directly. They should have more information on the upgrade process.
