Getting back an expired site

  • Unknown's avatar

My original blog domain is “theteachingvoyager.com”. It expired and I paid to have it renewed a few days after expiration date. All site content was moved to, “theteachingvoyagerhome.wordpress.com”- a free domain. How do I get all the content back to the original domain?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

From what I see you also had the WordPress.com Premium Plan on your account (purchased in Sept. 2019) but did not renew. You only renewed your domain, yes?

One thing to be aware of is that you need one of our “plan” upgrades to be able to set your site to anything other than it’s “WordPress.com” address. Because you no longer have the ability to set theteachingvoyager.com as the primary address of your site, but you can regain that ability by clicking the Upgrade button here: https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/theteachingvoyager.com/

    Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for your help. So I purchased the plan but still not able to apply to “theteachingvoyager.com.” I’m given other options to choose from. Further help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi again,

I can confirm that you have added an upgrade plan to your site. I have set theteachingvoyager.com as the primary address for your site, and for me it is using that address now. You can see what I see at this link: https://d.pr/i/kDwK3p

    Hope this helps!

I’m having the same issue for mieshashenelle.com – would you be able to help me by chance?

  • @ohhmiee2451,

Please open your own support request at https://wordpress.com/help/contact. If that form brings you back to this forum instead of letting you open an email support ticket, add the tag modlook to your forum thread and we’ll help you there.

But if you post in someone else’s thread it doesn’t include any of the information on your account that we need to help with this.
