Getting back into WP Admin after domain expiration

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there, I haven’t used my blog in awhile and let my domain expire (blissfullyher.com). I went through my hosting provider (IONOS) and was able to purchase my domain again, but I was wondering if it is possible to hook that back up to my original WordPress account or if I should just create a new account altogether? I’m not able to get into WP Admin at all to try to update anything. Thank you!

I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

It doesn’t appear that your site was hosted here at WordPress.com because we have no record of that domain being used here at WordPress.com.

Likely you had a website using the WordPress software but hosted elsewhere. If you recall where you had your site hosted and if you did not cancel that hosting plan, they should still have your site on their servers somewhere using a temporary domain.

NOTE: you have that domain under your WordPress.com account due to your use of the Jetpack plugin on your website back then. Jetpack just allows you to manage your site through the WordPress.com dashboard – it does not serve as a backup of your site nor is it a hosting provider.

If you need us to remove that old Jetpack connection (since the site doesn’t appear to exist anymore) we can do that for you.

    I hope that clarifies things!
