Getting Back to the Old Editing Format
-
How do I avoid getting the new editing format? It is less convenient than the old one, but it keeps popping up and I can’t find a toggle to get back to the old way. For example, I cannot find the “short links” tab in the new format. And, in any case, the new does not improve on the old, so I would like to avoid it consistently. With thanks, Montaigbakhtinian

You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. I don’t use it at all. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/

Thanks a lot! Don’t understand why WordPress needs to be so committed to the new when there are some many of its customers who prefer the old (“classic”). Reminds me of the Coke Classic affair. With thanks again, Wm. Eaton, Montaigbakhtinian

This is a hack to use the classic editor: from your own blog, if you install this and click edit it will take you to the classic editor rather than the beep-boop.

@clareflourish
That and all workarounds are already included in the post I linked to http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/ -
Thanks a lot for all your work on this and for letting us know. God only knows why WordPress is being stubborn on this. Best, Wm. E / Montaigbakhtinian
