Getting charged for 2 domains and want to cancel one but they link to same page!
-
I want to cancel one of these domains but don’t want to risk cancelling my main page altogether because they are linked. The one I want to cancel is my original domain (backcountryexplorernl.com) before I changed it to the one I use now (newfoundlandexplorer.com).
If I delete the old domain will it also delete my new one because they are linked?
Thanks for the help – Justin

Hi there!
You can cancel one of your domains without affecting your other domain or website. You would just need to go into the domain settings for backcountryexplorernl.com and delete the domain from there.
NOTE: This will remove the domain from your account and you would not be able to repurchase it elsewhere right away, so make sure you want to get rid of the domain for good before you cancel it.
I hope that clarifies things! Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you!
So just to clarify, if I cancel http://www.backcountryexplorernl.com it will not affect http://www.newfoundlandexplorer.com even though they are the same site?
BecauseIf I type http://www.backcountryexplorernl.com into the web browser it directs me to http://www.newfoundlandexplorer.com

Yes, that is correct.
newfoundlandexplorer.com is set as primary, so deleting the backcountryexplorernl.comdomain would not in anyway affect the site. The
backcountryexplorernl.comdomain doesn’t expire until 2023-10-21, so just in case there may be some traffic going to that domain name, what you may want to do is to disable the auto renew and let it expire on 10-21. To disable auto renew on that domain, you can go to Purchases in your profile and click on that domain and then click to disable the auto renew.https://wordpress.com/support/manage-purchases/#turn-off-automatic-renewal
