Getting domain back in redemption period

  My wordpress blog is phdmommyconfidential.wordpress.com. I bought a domain and it expired in April of 2013. I tried to buy it back, but was told that my domain is still in the redemption period. Is it too late for me to purchase the domain and have it linked back up to my wordpress blog? The domain is phdmommyconfidential.com.
