Getting domain name back
-
I cancelled my plan and wanted to keep my domain, but I unfortunately misinterpreted this and lost the domain.
I’m trying to get it back, but every time I try to claim the domain again it says ‘This domain expired recently. To get it back please contact support.’ Only, I can’t find anything in support about getting the domain back.
So, how do I actually get my domain back?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hi there,
Are you considering using your domain again on your WordPress.com site, or do you have plans to use it on a different platform?
If you’d like to keep it here on WordPress.com, I can send you a link to pay for it, and then I’ll get it restored for you.
Now, if you’d rather use it somewhere else and don’t mind waiting a few days, your domain should become available again by early next week. Then, you’ll be able to register it directly with the provider where you want to use it. If you don’t want to wait, I can still restore it manually for you, as mentioned above, and then help you point it to the other provider.
Just let me know what works best for you.

If the domain will become available again early next week, then I don’t mind waiting. However, the domain support page says “Once your domain expires, it can be unavailable for up to 90 days”. So I assume it won’t actually take that long?

Hi @levitican, it’s different with brand-new domains, at least with .com extensions. If you cancel within the first 96 hours of registration, .com domains (and several others) can be released instead of going through a redemption process.
Given that, would you like to just wait for it to be released?
