Getting Domain Name onto Wix

  Hi,

  I just purchased my domain name through WordPress. I’d like to somehow transfer it or have it point to a website I published on Wix…how can I do this? I don’t want my blog anymore on wordpress, but I still want my domain name.

  Hey there.

  Since you just registered the domain yesterday, we could cancel it and you’ll get a refund, plus you’ll be able to register it directly on Wix in about 3 or 5 days.

  You can also leave your domain here and configure it to point to Wix, but keep in mind that you’ll have to renew it with us every year, independently from your Wix subscription.

  Hi,

  Thanks for your reply. I read that if I canceled it then there is a chance my domain name will not be available. Does this risk exist?

  If you cancel right now, your domain will be “on hold” for 3 or 5 days. Then it will be in the market, available for buying.

  There’s always a chance that someone will buy your domain in the very short time window of the following days. But it’s very unlikely.

  Domains are usually “backordered” only when they have already been in use for a while, there are groups that do this to ask for ransom on expired domains.

  I don’t think there’s any chance you’ll loose the domain, you’ll only have to wait a few days for it to be available again.

  In any case, you can always just keep the domain here and point it to Wix. It will work just the same but you’ll have to pay for the domain here, and for Wix’s service separately.
