Getting Expired domain back (forgot to renew)
-
My domain has expired on 13/09/2016 as I forgot to renew it. My website now is shown as .worpress.com. When I try to purchase the domain back again it says ‘it is taken’, however when I go online and type the address it says ‘cannot be found’. I want my website to look simply without ‘wordpress’ in it, just as before. Please advice what to do. Thank you

Is your domain prolondonconsultancy.com? If so, it appears to be in the redemption period. There will be an additional $80 fee imposed by the registrar if the domain is able to be recovered. If you wish to proceed, add “modlook” to the tags of this forum thread and a staff member will be around to assist.

Aloha elenapak, Your domain may be in its redemption period:
After the grace period ends, your domain enters the redemption period, the length of which can vary. This means the domain name can still be renewed, but there is an $80.00 redemption fee required in addition to the normal renewal cost. (This is standard practice for domain registrars.)
It’s important to note that during the redemption phase, domains can be included in expired-domain auctions, where another party can bid on your domain name. If the domain is claimed by someone else in an auction, you will not be able to renew. If you made a payment in attempt to reclaim the domain out of redemption and were unsuccessful, you will get a refund.

thank you for replies and help. Could you please advise how to proceed? Seems like I have no choice but to pay extra $80. But where do I do that and return my domain?
Many thanks!

Our records show that prolondonconsultancy.com expired on 04-oct-2016.
Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order.
You can learn more about domain expiration here:
The good news is that we may still be able to recover your domain if it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else.
As you noted, a late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by the domain registry and is not one that we can waive. The total price will be $98, which is 80 for the regular renewal, plus the $80 late renewal fee. If you do not wish to pay the $80 fee, you may let the domain expiration process continue and attempt to register the domain again at the regular price, once it has completely expired. Please note that someone else may purchase the domain first, in which case you will be unable to register it again.
Please confirm that you understand.

hi rootjosh. thanks for reply. I would like to renew it now and ready to pay extra 80 USD. I will not be not interested to buy it from auction and pay any extras on top of this though. If it will be purchased by someone else, I just make a new domain.
For now, where can I pay the renewal fee along with penalty?
Also how long will it take to get the domain back?Thank you!

I will contact the registrar and let you know when I hear back from them. This typically takes 24-48 hours.

I am sending you an email to the address associated with your WordPress.com account. Please let me know if you do not receive it.

Thanks a lot Rootjosh! I am very grateful for all your support. I have made the payment as requested in the email. So do I just wait now until the payment is processed and then the website will be live again. Or i will need to do adjustments through wordpress.com dashboard first?
Many thanks!
