Getting FTP information to move hosts

    Hi,

I have just purchased a hosting and domain name package with GoDaddy and am trying to pull across the site to them but am having an issue with FTP login details.

On GoDaddy’s page I need to put in my admin details for the website (no issues with this) and then the FTP details so it can make a copy of the website onto their servers. How do I get this information? What I’m seeing is:

    FTP credentials
Tell us how to connect to your site to get its files.
    Host location or IP Address:
    FTP username:
    FTP password:

I’ve spoken with GoDaddy and they say it’s WP I need to speak to to get this info.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Godaddy should know better – they don’t seem to learn – there is no FTP access at WordPress.Com – you will need to export then import your content

    Dashboard >> tools

your content will be moved but not your theme – you will need to reconfigure your theme over on Godaddy

Thanks, I’ve managed to export and set up a new wordpress acount on Go Daddy but now I’m having issue with the XML import. I’m trying to upload a 513KB file directly on the dashboard on GoDaddy but it keeps timing out.

Do you know where I can put this XML on an FTP? Is it in the content folder? Does it need to be renamed? I’ve looked for the answer everywhere but can’t seem to find it.

Just to clarify, I can FTP because the new wordpress account I’ve created is on GD’s servers and not WordPress. I’ve connected to it fine and can see files in there I just don’t know how to upload the exported file I have.

ask over at WordPress.ORG – they support the software you are using at GD
