Getting GoDaddy (Managed WordPress) hosting, (Avada) demo and WordPress platform connected
-
Hello,
I am just looking for some basic help to get started. I have started a WordPress account, purchased Managed WordPress hosting and a custom url from GoDaddy and also have an Avada demo. My questions are around WordPress’s Basic, Business, etc packages and where they fit with demos and hosting from third-party platforms.
1) Do I need to purchase one of the WordPress plans in order to upload the Avada demo that I’ve purchased? Do the WordPress plans and Managed WordPress hosting from GoDaddy work together? Or do I need one or the other?
2) How does the Managed WordPress hosting at GoDaddy play in? How do I get it connected to the WordPress platform (preferred) or do I have to actually build it within Godaddy (I see an option to ‘create website’ there)?
Thanks so much!

Are you looking at WordPress.com plans? WordPress.com and GoDaddy are two completely different places where you can host a website/blog.
or do I have to actually build it within Godaddy
You said at the start of your thread that you have already
purchased Managed WordPress hosting and a custom url from GoDaddy
If you’ve already paid them then perhaps you should be approaching GoDaddy for advice on how to set up your new site there using the WordPress.org software and that theme of your choice.
PS: You’ve also created the free site https://mindsparkpsych.wordpress.com/ here at WordPress.com. If you’d rather work here than at GoDaddy then you’d need to buy a WordPress.com Personal plan or higher to map your GoDaddy domain to that WordPress.com site (but you’d need a Business plan to use that theme here). -
Hi, thanks for that response – it was helpful. I did purchase the GoDaddy “Managed WordPress” hosting but have built no site there. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Just didn’t know if the package from GoDaddy and WordPress Business package were competing, or if I needed to purchase both. Sounds like I have options.
Your answer tells me everything that I need to know. Will figure it out from here. Thanks again!

Hello, thanks for that response – super helpful. I did purchase the GoDaddy “Managed WordPress” hosting but have built no site there. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Just didn’t know if the hosting package from GoDaddy and WordPress Business package were competing, or if I needed to purchase both. Sounds like an either/or thing. Will try to work it from the GoDaddy end of things.
Thanks again!
