getting help & menus

Hi. It has been 7 weeks and my website is still not functioning properly. I have not been able to find how to contact ‘support’ at wordpress until now. Twice, after updates automatic by wordpress, the menus stopped displaying and the display of pages became different from what I designed.
I CANNOT find ANY HELP anywhere, even from professionals ! Can you please help? My website was designed by a webdesigner who decided to dump me when the job became technical (updates, security)… and for the past 7 weeks, I found that there is no support at all from wordpress. I am not able to use all the ‘community help’ things, cannot find anything useful there, and most of the time I do not understand the instructions.
Please tell me how to fix these 2 problems, and if possible how to find someone to do the support not offered by wordpress.
    Thank you
    Marika

    can you please help?

    Hi there!

To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

Since your website is hosted with HostGator, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can try to get you pointed in the right direction.

As the WordPress software is open-source, there’s no company or organization “in charge” of support – that falls to either the site owner or the person/organization who built the site for you. Since the person you hired is no longer providing that service, the site management would fall to you unless you find and hire a new developer to manage your website.

You could use a website like Upwork or Codeable to find and interview a new developer to take over your site management if you choose. Otherwise, if you still need help, you would need to reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:

    I hope that clarifies things.
