Getting likes, but nothing shows on my visitor stats
-
Hi, I blogged on 25th May. On 26th May I gotI TEN emails from WordPress saying ten people ‘liked’ my blog on 26th May. But my Stats page shows nothing for 26th May — 0 visits — and other days around then show only one or two visitors. How can this be? Ten people must have seen the blog in order to ‘like’ it… so why don’t the stats reflect that? The numbers don’t add up. Does anyone know?
Also, can anyone tell me, is there anywhere on my WordPress Admin pages that tells me how many ‘likes’ I get? Is this only communicated via emails? Thanks for your help, Kay

HI well you are probably not alone to face this problem.
I shared a post with similar issue, you may find your answer there.
Please check this link- http://t.co/cmFtoofMVB
If the link not working please let me know.

to answer the 2nd part of your query.
to get total likes you are getting – go to your stats or reader page or new post’s page and at the top right of your computer screen you can find bell like icon – click on that and then you can see the like tab- on clicking on the like tab you can see who liked your posts. -

Glad to know you found it helpful.
Here is something more I found- go to the stats page and below the graphs you can find written- views, visitors, likes etc. Click on this ‘like’ link and it will display your receive likes based on daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis.
Just check it out! -

Why is the number of views less than the number of likes?
Readers may like your post without visiting your site, for example on the Reader. Since they didn’t actually visit your site, liking a post in this way does not count as a visit. -
Just a note on ‘likes’… don’t forget that in the wordpress reader people can often read your post without ‘clicking through’ to your blog as well. It’s an issue for a lot of people whether to show only a preview, or the whole post for the reader.

Thanks you both, auxclass and afreestyler. I have clearly not found my way round WordPress very well at all. I had no idea about the Reader, or how it worked! Oh dear… but this has all been really helpful and makes sense. I’ve discovered more people ‘liked’ my posts in the past, so that’s very encouraging :) Now I’ll add ‘Check out the Reader’ to my list of Things to Do. Thanks again!

You be welcome
Set your feed to summery and only a short part of your post will show in the email & reader

Thanks, auxclass. Can you tell me why that’s best? I thought it would be best to let people read the whole thing but I guess if I only put a part of it then they might be tempted to go to my blog page. Is that it? Or is it just a pain for people to see the whole thing (esp if it’s long!)

You’re welcome, yes, if you check the box of Summary instead of Full Text as auxclass mentioned; go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading and you’ll see that option there. (Directly under “Syndication feeds show the most recent” and it’s the next one) See if it makes a difference, still keep your eye on it though, as it does not always guarantee a ‘click’.
All the best.

The idea is to have people come to your site and look around after reading the original article. Also makes it harder for someone to “scrap” (steal content and put on another site) – also they need to visit your site to read the whole article, so you get a few more page views

Thanks again to both of you! That makes sense, auxclass, definitely best to have it set to summary. Following freestyle’s directions, I’ve just changed my settings. Tomorrow I’ll think of another blog and see how that goes. Now off to crawl into bed… can barely keep my eyes open. Thanks again for all your help. All the best, Kay
