Getting more views then visitors?
-
I’ve had an increase in views but the amount of visitors has been the same. The increase seems suspicious. Today is the first day of November and I had 200 visitors but over 4,000 views, what is happening? I also noticed that a huge chunk of my readers are concentrated in one area (Netherlands contributed 3000 views)

Hey there @phenomenex, thanks for your patience. This may require some digging by the data team, but for now here’s what I can say:
Normally getting more views than visitors is a great thing: it would mean folks are sticking around to click through your site. On a scale like that though, and with a concentration all in one place, I’d bet this was a visit from a crawler that wasn’t properly identified.
Did you happen to submit your site to be crawled by any search engines?

Hi @phenomenex, we’ve spotted the issue. It is indeed a crawler/bot. Many of those (like Google) visit your site, so that’s nothing abnormal, but we normally filter them out so they won’t appear in your stats. This one was slipping through, but we’ve identified it now and are adding a fix so it won’t show in your new stats going forward. Thank you for letting us know!
