Hi,
I cancelled my domain jbarecords.com because i found it difficult to use wordpress. How do i get back the ‘.com’ and how long will that take? thank you -
Hi there,
It can be anything from several weeks to several months before a cancelled domain becomes available again, and that’s only if the registrar doesn’t sell it at a private auction rather than releasing it. When you cancelled your domain you stopped being the owner, so the registrar can no do whatever they want with it. If you still wanted to use the domain it would have been better to just transfer it somewhere else.
At the moment it should still be possible for me to get the domain back, but we’ll have to act fast as in a few days the domain will go into redemption, at which point our registrar will charge an $80 fee to restore it. After the domain is restored I can help you point it to another host, and by the end of this month it will be unlocked and you can transfer it away if you prefer.
Let me know if you want me to try and get the domain back for you.

If i want to make my domain a third party on another server, how do i do that after i have deleted it on wordpress? Will that be an easier way of getting my domain running again?

At the moment you don’t need to pay the $80, as the domain hasn’t gone into redemption yet. I’ve emailed our registrar to get back the domain, jbarecords.com, for you. Once they return it I’ll attach it to the new site you created.
I see you also cancelled jbarecord.com. Do you want that domain back as well, or only the first one?
Then I’m also moving your Premium theme from your deleted site to the new site for you, and once you reply regarding the second domain I can refund the upgrades you bought on the now-deleted site as I see those were never issued before you deleted it.

If we’re lucky, the domain should be restored later today, otherwise it should be back by tomorrow. Once we get it back I’ll also see what I can do in terms of refunding your upgrades for the deleted site.

I am trying to get the DNS to use jbarecords.com as a third party domain on squarespace. Will that work or i have to do it a different way?
or how else can i get jbarecords.com on squarespace? -

The DNS “current data” all state correct except the first “CNAME”.
Why will it state incorrect ? -

None of the domain’s settings will work until the domain has been restored. I need you to please be patient while we wait for the registrar to do that, then I can help you get everything working :)

Hi there,
Your domain has been restored and is pointing to Squarespace, so once you verify it on their end everything should be working.
Besides the domain, you also have a Premium Plan on your site. If your domain is pointing to Squarespace, you don’t actually need a plan with us, so should I cancel and refund that plan or do you want to leave it on your site for now?

You’ll need to contact Squarespace support to find out how to verify it. The DNS records needed to point the domain to Squarespace are already on your domain, but they’ll possibly need you to add another record to verify you own the domain. They need to provide that record to you.
I have removed and refunded the Premium Plan you bought two days ago. I was also able to issue a partial refund for the original Premium plan you bought on the site you’ve deleted. You should receive that in a couple of weeks.

Thank you so much. The DNS has now connected and the domain is working under square space. What do i have to do next? Will the “jbarecords.com” under wordpress be deleted?

We are still your domain registrar, so you will need to pay us every year to renew the domain, while your site is with Squarespace.
If it’s possible to transfer a domain to Squarespace (you’ll need to ask them about this), you also have the option to transfer the domain away from us after you’ve owned it for 60 days. As you bought the domain on 27 July, that means from the end of September you’ll be able to transfer the domain.
If you decide not to transfer the domain, then you need to renew it with us every year so you don’t lose it.
