Getting my front page layout to display images?
-
I just purchased a new theme, Watson. I liked the way the demo looked because it had a thumbnail photo displayed next to each post but I cannot get them to display. I also am having trouble getting my header to display correctly like it did on my previous theme.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
I’m happy to help you get Watson set up the way you want. We do have a support page specifically for Watson, you can find it here:

It looks like you got this working!

It looks like your header is appearing correctly. Is there something you want it to do that it’s not doing right now? Let me know what you want to see!

The issue that I’m still having is that after having went through each post and setting a featured image, when you open up each post there is the image that I had originally uploaded as well as the featured image displaying. How do I get the featured image not to display when I open the post?
-
I’m sorry to be premature about these things. I seem to be solving them on my own.
My question now is if I have a static front page can I still display the “slider” as it does if I have the front page displaying my most recent posts?
-
In Watson, you can still have a featured slider, however it will still show up on your recent posts page. So when you set up your static front page, make sure to set up a recent posts page for your blog posts to appear under. The slider will appear at the top of that page.
Does that make sense? Let me know if I can clarify anything!

Hi again,
Thank you for your help. So basically I should set up another page for recent posts? I can’t have the slider display on my homepage if it’s static?
-
Exactly. You can see the setting for your Posts page under Settings > Reading, just under where you set your static front page.

Most people use a page titled “Blog” or “News” depending on what makes sense on your site. Once that’s set up, you can add posts to the slider following the directions here:

Let me know if I can help further!

I haven’t figured out how to make a “recent posts” page that will display the slider…could you explain that?
Thanks!

I’m happy to!
First, let’s create a new page for your posts to live in. Most people title it something like “Blog”. Just go to Pages > Add New and create the page. You don’t need to add any content to it, it won’t appear on the page.
Next, go to Settings > Reading. Under the drop down menu to setup your Front Page, there’s a drop down menu for “Posts page”. Select your new page there and save your changes.
Now if you visit that page, you’ll see your posts!
The last thing you need to do to get the slider to appear is add posts to it! You can do this through the post editor. At the bottom of the right column in the editor, there will be a “Watson Theme Post Options” module. Check the box next to “Show in Featured Slider” and save your changes.

Let me know if I can clarify any of that further! :)
