Getting my own domain

If I purchase a domain through a partner of yours, will my likes, ratings, comments and followers also transfer over to the new domain? Does this vary between getting the guided transfer and exporting the blog myself?

Getting a domain name here (or getting one elsewhere and mapping it here) is like putting a different address on your front door. It’s a different way for people to find you, but nothing inside changes.

I mean, get a domain name from one of the sites on your list, possibly Host Gator. I’ve designed wordpress templates before, so I would like to be able to make my own.

The likes and stats will transfer if you map a custom domain name to an existing blog here at WordPress.COM

A domain name? Or a hosting account?
I’ve designed wordpress templates before, so I would like to be able to make my own.
You would not be able to use your own personally created template/theme here without submitting it for approval.

So if I get a new hosting account (a partner of WP) with a domain name my comments, likes, ratings, etc of posts will not carry over, with or without guided transfer?
