Getting reader's comments to show on post.
-
Good day. I am trying to figure out how to get the comments in my posts to show. Someone posted a comment and I received an email letting me know that it is there but it does not show at the bottom of my post. I went into Discussion and enabled the right settings but it still does not show. Is there something else I need to do?
I would like for reader’s comments to show below the post. Thank you.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You approve pending comments here > Dashboard > Comments

yes I got that. The only comments that I seem to be able to approve are spam. Comments made by readers that visit by blog are not coming up on the admin/edit-comments page you just linked. I get an email that someone commented but the email does not include the “approve” option. I hope that makes sense.

We all get deluged with spam and what you are referring to as a comment without a link is most likely a pingback > http://en.support.wordpress.com/comments/pingbacks/

I see. I guess that would make more sense, except this person does not have a blog. If you visited my blog and clicked comment I would get an email about it but it would not show up to me or others on the live post.

What is the username of the person who left the comment? I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Her name is Diane. Below is the exact email I received notifying me of her comment. Thank you!!!

Comment: Yes, we have all been there, done that. I seem to collect recipes from food blogs and they never quite work out. A lot of these food bloggers are semi-professional in some capacity, and they do make things look easy. I like your idea of using the “cookies” as ice cream topping! With ingredients as good as you used, however you eat these is acceptable! And maybe since your assistant is so picky, she will grow up to make foods perfectly!Time: 09/17/2013 at 2:16 pm

You have both a contact form and comments boxes on your posts.
See here please re: contact forms

There redundancy doesn’t make much sense.
http://mandmsoaps.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=feedbackWe tend to create customized contact forms for specific purposes and we tend to place them on static pages. Usually when we do that we disable the comment form so both don’t appear.

Oh I see. So if I go ahead and delete the contact form that should allow the comments to post. I really appreciate your patience with me. I’ve never blogged before so I am learning as I go. :-)

Yes. I you edit the post and delete the contact form it will have no affect on your comments. You will approve pending comments here > Dashboard > Comments
http://mandmsoaps.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.phpTo edit the Post go to > Dashboard > Posts > All Posts and hover over the post title then click “edit” and remove the contact form. Then click “update”. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/
For reference:
All WordPress blogs by default have comments open on all Pages and Posts. You can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/Any existing posts or pages will need to have comments disabled manually via editing. You can use the bulk edit feature in the all posts and all pages screen to make that quicker.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/edit-pages-screen/Note: By default, new blogs on WordPress.com will have the Discussion hidden. You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules
