Getting Referrers from Porno sites – Help!!

    Why am I now getting referrers from porno sites? My link is not on them, of course, but they are sneaking in hoping I click on them, I guess. Is there anything you or I can do to stop it?

    we cannot stop people from linking to our sites. i suggest that you just ignore it, since you only see those links yourself in your blog stats and not your readers, fortunately.

    I have also gotten this twice in the last week. I am not sure how this is happening. I clicked on it before I realized what it was and then was horrified. I then got angry and wanted to know why I was linked to their site. So I scrolled down the page and found that they just have a long list of blogs of which mine was one. I don’t know how they are searching for these and then linking them up to their site.

    It’s likely that they are searching tags/categories as a means of locating blogs that they intend to blogroll. If you are using mature or adult tags or images pertaining to “sexuality” etc. then this could be the reason they are linking to your blog. However, the fact remains that any other blogger can choose to link to your blog and you cannot prevent them from doing so. Therefore this is not a support issue that volunteers answering forum questions or staff can assist you with.

    @darvish
    Would you please mark this issue as “resolved”?

    Be sure to delete any trackbacks they leave; very often that’s why they linked in teh first place, to draw people from your site to theirs.

    My other blog gets allot of porn searches.

    How do you delete them? What do you mean, “just ignore them?” I don’t have adult content on my Blog.

    Please tell me how to delete them and/or delete them all. Thanks a lot,
    Elizabeth

    you can only delete the porn links if they come in the form of trackbacks on your blog. this means that they have left a trackback / comment in your post that enables your readers to reach their page.

    if there is no trackbacks on your blog, the incoming link is only visible to you in your blog stats. for that you can’t do much, so it’s best to ignore it as you can’t stop anybody from linking to your blog.

    …and if you’re getting porno or other comment spam despite Askimet’s best efforts, adjust your comment settings to “moderate” so that you get a chance to delete them before they appear on your blog.
