Getting rid of a page referrer
-
I have a page referrer linked to my main page. This was done by other people, not me. Is there anyway to stop it from refreshing my blog every 30 seconds? I know URLs can’t be blocked on WordPress.
Will setting my blog to private help at all?
I’m considering exporting my posts to a new blog, but I’ve read that usually doesn’t work.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Why do you want to do that?
Actually, it doesn’t matter. If you want, you can set your blog to private and then nobody will be able to link to you.
You can, for a public blog, no sooner prevent people from linking to you than you can prevent them from pointing at you in the street.
-
Why do I want to get rid of it? Because it’s slightly stalkerish to have someone dedicate a page referrer to refresh my blog every 30 seconds for the last 2 years. It’s like having a stranger stare at you for hours on end. It doesn’t disturb you, but it does me.

It’s like having a robot stare at you for hours on end. But it seems overkill to dump your real readers just to thwart the robot.

I don’t have any real readers.
This, to me, is a computer virus that I want gone. Yes, it’s not doing any harm on its own. The people/person who created it is what concerns me. From what smart computer people have told me, this will keep refreshing my blog even if it’s made private. Now the robot from your analogy is not doing any harm, just patiently waiting outside my doorstep for the past 2 years.
I’m sorry you don’t understand how irritating and annoying this is for me.
