Getting Rid of A Repeat Spammer’s Comments
-
Akismet is doing a great job of catching spam comments on my blog, but is there a way to mark a particular repeat spammer so that I don’t have to review this spammer’s comments ever again? This spammer uses the same email account on each spam comment and I thought maybe I could note it on the Settings>Discussion page, but that only seems to allow me to mark it as “spam” which it already is.
How I can Deep6 this spammer forever? They account for probably 45-60% of my spam and on a bad day, this is painful.

Under Settings – Discussion there is an option to set certain words to always moderate or to blacklist completely. Stick the email in the blacklist box and you should never see the spam again.

Oh, sorry, just read you comment again. Hmm. I don’t think there’s a way of setting it as anything but spam. I must admit I rarely check my spam since it almost always is all spam.

I don’t know how to get rid of it completely. However, I use a Greasemonkey script that reduce the spam down to just a couple of lines. It’s in this post https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/reviewing-spam?replies=23#post-43123 This allows me to scan the spam very quickly and just hit the delete button.

Thanks, this came very handy and on time, I’ve been swamped by spams and was just thinking if there is a better way.

OK-I was hoping there was a way to deal with this inside WP, but looks like it’s time to install the Greasemonkey script. Thanks for the input.

My blog here has been getting a ton of spams over the past few days. Obviously the spammers have authorized overtime pay for their minions.

Same here I have been getting slammed by spam also for the last couple of days
they are diffidently working over time & some of the spam is from the same email. -

Thankfully, yes tsp, but since even checking spam takes time, it would be nice to be point a finger at a “repeat offender” and say “yourouddahere”, especially since they are so helpful in using the same email/username every single time they leave spam. The IP and website change with each comment, but the email/username stays the same.
Is there really no way to just block this spammer?! (sigh)

It doesn’t though, does it raincoaster? I think justjennifer’s point is that even if blacklisted, the comments still go into her spam filter which she then checks in case any real comments have gone through.

All I know is I put a certain mastication-related penguin’s usernames in there and I haven’t seen anything since.
