  Hi, new to blogging and I have a broken link/picture/box on my page that I cannot work out how to get rid of. If you can help in any way; I’d be very appreciative.

  You seem to have figured this out. It’s the Featured Image box.

  ok, I can change the feature images on my posts, but I don’t understand how to remove the one on my front page

  That’s an Image widget, and the URL you’ve used doesn’t exist. Go to Appearance > Widgets and delete the widget or use a different URL.
