getting rid of page
-
On my blog, I have created several new pages. I only want these pages as buttons on the main page. However, one of the button links at the top is called Blog and I don’t want it to appear as a button. How do I get rid of that page? I doesn’t show up in my list of pages in the Manage pages section.

“Blog” is your main page, and the page where your blog posts appear and it cannot be deleted.
It would appear from looking at your site, that what you have done is create a “website” rather than a blog. Typically a blog is a site where you would post daily entries about things and allow people to make comments, and those would appear chronologically on the main page (in this case “blog”) with the newest entries at the top.
Just for reference, here is a link that explains the differences between pages and posts: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/11/a-post-and-a-page/

If stats and page ranking are not important to you then you could create a static front page and then “hide” the “blog” page.

Note that the Pages widget now allows us to exclude display of some pages or sub-pages

Thank you for your reply. How do I hide the “blog” page? It doesn’t show up in my list when I go to Manage >> Pages. I can’t find that page anywhere.

Not all themes have that big BLOG button on top; why not play around with some whose blog link is just the title itself, like Dusk?
