Getting rid of white space on Textbook theme

  I’m trying to remove the white space that is left over on the sides of the post thumbnail section of the front page. The code I have so far is:
  .site-content {
  background: #000;
  }

  But that does not seem to extend to the edges of that section

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I have been playing with it trying to fix it the space is now gray.
