The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I mean: to get rid of a bunch of widgets that came automatically on the template, like About this site, Search, and Categories, and so on. I want to simplify the page, and just a put a widget or two of my choice.

Huh! We just put in a second “Pages” widget to see what would happen, and all the ones we didn’t want disappeared! Well, i guess we’re all set? Many thanks for looking at it.

Most themes come with a small preset sample of sidebar items. Those items are not some of the widgets available under Appearance>widgets but artificially generated from the theme’s underlying files. When you add any widget yourself, this sample is cancelled, and you just continue adding all the widgets you really want.
