@panos: Sorry. Ok not sorry. I know you were not talking to me.
It’s got to be funny that a person like me is telling anyone to be hopeful or optimistic or generous, though! And you are right about the .com/.org—wrong-forum:auto-response controversy/solution is less that perfect.
I’m sure our amazing friend Willie S. would have something profound to say about never finding perfection in this life but my brain is too tired to think of anything.bonne nuit

I must say that I loved the preceding discussion. I use to do in-house, telephone, and field service for an automatic controls company. Their documentation was so bad and I got so tried of answering the same questions that I started writing my own custom addendum’s to give to the customers for whom I installed new systems. Great idea, right? Well, I ended up being expected to produce and maintain operator manuals for the entire product line, including one-of-a-kinds, in addition to all of the duties I already had. And that’s not to mention becoming the most requested on the customer service lines – the job I hated the most. So, long story short, there’s a definite “down-side” to being helpful.

Izaakmak, you just described my last place of employment. I did all the tech bulletins, all the manuals, and was the most requested person on the tech support line (along with my regular job of New Product Development and Production Manager). If fact, sometimes I had a backlog of people waiting for me and a full voicemail inbox. Luckily, the company recognized my efforts and was very generous.

If only mine had been so generous, TSP. I wore so many hats I had to duck when going through a door. When they finally added “Production Eng.” to the list, and I developed “outside issues”, the camel’s back broke and I haven’t been back since. But I feel good where I’m at, and this environment is providing me with exactly what I need most: a place to learn and be creative. :-D
