Getting site back (accidentally let domain expire)
-
Hey there,
I have hosted my website on wordpress for ~7 years and accidentally let my domain expire on godaddy.
I’ve now renewed my domain with godaddy but don’t know how to get my website back up that I hosted on WordPress.
What are the steps to get it back up and running?
Thanks!

Hi there,
Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we did not host dynamo-events.com directy on our WordPress.com managed hosting.
To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions. You can learn more about the performance and security benefits of our managed hosting here: https://wordpress.com/hosting/
Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at GoDaddy. As a result we are not able to offer backups and historical data for sites hosted elsewhere. Of course, we would love to host your site here, where we we are happy to help further. But as it stands now, we can’t assist.
The good news is that your hosting provider may be able to help in this instance since your hosting provider is usually responsible for providing backups of accounts they host, and may be able to restore your site from their internal backups. I recommend contacting GoDaddy for further assistance since they are in the best position to help.
After you have restored your site from backup, we welcome you to migrate to our fully managed hosting. We take care of daily and incremental backups for you (which you can access any time you like) so this is not an issue you would have if you were to host on WordPress.com directly. You can use our handy migration plugin to move an exact copy of your site:
The Move to WordPress.com plugin allows you to start migrating a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com directly from the self-hosted site. Prerequisites The Move to WordPress.com plugin installed on your self-hosted WordPress site. Jetpack version 7.9 or higher activated on the self-hosted site. All incompatible plugins deactivated on the self-hosted site. ✅ ThHope this helps!
