Getting spam messages on single post repeatedly.

  Hi.I am getting spam messages on a single post repeatedly from last couple of days.Can this type of hits result in hacking?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  No, but it often results from having approved a message from a spammer. Other spammers see it and figure they’re safe to leave a comment. You can’t be hacked this way, but it can be a nuisance. Go through the existing approved comments there and put any that are doubtful into moderation.

  I have a number of posts on http://www.hilaryburrage.com which receive HUNDREDS of really pesky spams every day. I have tried everything I know to stop these but they keep coming, and I already moderate every single comment before posting it.

  And now I’ve even BLOCKED ALL emails to me to tell me when ‘comments’ are posted (which is a pain because a small proportion of the comments are real and relevant, and I do want to know about these). But STILL the emails arrive telling me that comments (spam) have been posted.

  Am at my wit’s end. On my desktop at least these emails about spam go into Junk (once they have been so-labelled by me), but on my mobile, if I’m away and haven’t already deleted them, they completely clog up and ruin the messages in the Inbox. Hundreds of them. Daily.

  Why has WordPress not STOPPED the emails arriving, since I have set things so that I don’t any more want to receive notifications?

  Any help v much appreciated.

  Define “everything I know” and give us a link to the specific posts. There’s a reason the spam is going there and nowhere else.

  These are my current settings, but STILL the emails come through with the never-ending spam:

  ** E-mail me whenever
  NO ~ Anyone posts a comment
  NO ~ A comment is held for moderation
  YES ~ Someone likes one of my posts
  YES ~ Someone reblogs one of my posts
  YES ~ Someone follows my blog

  Before a comment appears
  YES ~ An administrator must always approve the comment
