Getting spam on one of the blog posts

Hi all,
I have been getting spam on one of the blog posts. For some reason the comments seem to be getting approved (dunno how) . Is this referrer spam (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/regarding-referrer-spam?replies=1) or just comments spam ? Does anybody know how to distinguish between the two ? If somebody has written something about the same please lemme know.

Which one? If you have approved it already, could you give us the link to that post?

If you haven’t approved it, could you copy-paste the beginning?

If you’re getting a ton of spam on one post, look at the already approved comments on that post: the chances are at least one of them is spam.

that’s the thing, here’s the post which is getting lot of spam. http://flossexperiences.wordpress.com/2008/10/26/configuring-apcupsd . its really frustrating to get rid of things there :(

In my opinion, the CandyPaint comment is spam. Put it in moderation and see if the spam continues.

I don’t know if “unapproving” it will reverse the original approval.

at my end the inudation hasn’t stopped. I still am getting spam on that blog post :(

No big deal just keep marking it as spam and Akismet will eventually learn that it’s spam. This of course does mean you must do this several times and not just once.

Mark it as spam and then delete all the spam comments in the spam queue.

have been doing it the same way, just was unsure if I was doing it right. I don’t know much about ‘Akismet’ other than its a learning spam fighter.

That’s correct. Simply keep marking them as spam and then deleting all your spam.
