Forums / getting spam through "like"s and followers

getting spam through "like"s and followers

I am getting spam through “likes” and followers. For my most recent post, I got three new likes and one new follower. They are all spam, including some pornography. This is pretty upsetting.

Searching through some of the forums, it seems others are having the same problem but there is no solution.

It seems to me that there should be a way of at least removing spam likes and followers after the fact, if they can’t be prevented beforehand as they are with comments.

(The forum responses said to contact customer support, but that path forced me back through the forums. Is there any way to actually get to support?)

Likes are all directed to Gravatar profiles, not specific sites.

One those Gravatar profiles, of the 3 who likes your latest post, neither link to anything pornographic.

Where you referring to a different post?

This one, “marriagecoach1”, did a like *and* a follow after my latest post. Based on what was sent to me, reproduced below, it looks like porn disguising itself as something legit:

“Great posts worth seeing from marriagecoach1:

The Ultimate Blow Job, Letting Him Come in Your Mouth and Swallowing
A Male Advice Columnist For Women To Get Advice as Well as Guys
How To Make Your Man Come While Giving Him a Blow Job”

I’m not comfortable having his name connected with my blog.

I have no idea what the other two are. I have no interest in visiting their sites, thus doing what the spammer wants.

I confess to ignorance of the significance of this statement: “Likes are all directed to Gravatar profiles, not specific sites”.

Ah, that doesn’t sound good at all. I don’t see anything necessarily that bad in his Gravatar profile, but the listing of those posts is rather questionable.

In some ways, they fall under the subject of his blog I suppose, and such posts aren’t that frequent on his blog. The fact that two appeared in the recommendations is unfortunate, and I do apologize.

I am having a similar problem with ‘likes’ that are related to porn. Can I ‘unlike’?
Another problem I have is an email sent to my followers saying I have a new post and it is clearly spam. Please look into it. I can email what I received but I am not sure where to send it.

Not at this time, but would you please direct me to the post with the bad Like?

Your followers can signup to receive emails whenever you post. This is not spam and something they have to willingly sign up for.

Please send me an email address so I can send the questionable notifications. I am not talking about followers. Am aware how that works. My problem is a notification that was sent about me having posted on my blog yet clearly I had not. I didn’t follow the links given to see where they lead.
