Getting started

Yes I want to start experimenting with web design. I want to take my design live eventually but dont want to pay $25/month to experiment with coding and website creation. What premium option do you think would be best for me?

@aphpp9, feel free to start with a free site and learn what you can from that. The free plan is limited, but … if you want to do design for others, know you’ll be working within different limits anyway :)
Still, you should learn CSS, probably more. So if you don’t want to upgrade to be able to play with CSS and what not, you could look into learning how to run your own local installation. It would not be live on the web but it would make a nice little spot for you to try all kinds of code. Also, we would not provide support for that here (we’re the forums for free sites hosted on our servers) but there ARE a ton of tutorials out there. I’d just recommend being sure to follow newer ones since things have changed quite a bit over the past year or so.

Oh I wanted to share this too:
https://learn.wordpress.comThese are great tips that sometimes even more seasoned designers don’t know. If your clients will be hosted here, those ideas will help them out.
