getting started

I’m considering transferring my website from my professional organization to WP. My plan was to set up a WP site and see how it looks, experiment with different plans, etc., then make a decision about what to do and transfer my domain name. From what I can tell, though, WP requires me to deal with the domain issues before I do anything else, which seems backward, in that it appears to be an extremely complicated process to undertake before I do anything else. Isn’t there some way around this, so I can play around at the site a bit, see what looks good, and then if I’m sure I want to proceed, deal with the domain issues at that point?

  • Hi there,

You don’t need to register a domain or transfer an existing one. You can create a free .wordpress.com address and experiment with WordPress.com for as long as you want. If you decide to move your site here, you can work on that temp address and transfer your domain when you’re ready to launch the new site.

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
