getting started

Please help, I can’t even get started!
I paid for a $4/month membership, and received a bill for such, and it was debited from my cc. I apparently have two sign-ins to the same blog, but when I log into each, the site is listed as a Free account. I have already lost two postings that are just ‘gone’. If I don’t get help by Monday, August 31 I am going somewhere else to build a site. I already put as stop on the charge. -
I already put as stop on the charge.
That’s perhaps not the best way to get a prompt refund or to get your site up and running by 31st August. What is the address of the site in question. Perhaps you reach it via a different account?

Hi, yeah, @themagicrobot is right.
If you put a stop on the charge, we won’t be able to process the refund or get this untangled, since the billing is basically frozen for investigation.
I’m sure we can help you find the right account(s) though. Could you send a link to the site?
-
rcetrdr.wordpress.com is the address. The receipt for my payment was sent to (email visible only to moderators and staff). When I clicked on the link provided in this email, it still took me to the site above, which listed my Plan as “free”. I thought I possibly created two sites: rcetrdr.wordpress.com and rcetrdr.wordpress.org. But I didn’t find evidence of “.org”.
Thanks,
EileenI didn’t want to pay for something I couldn’t get to or find help for it. I stopped the charge to get someone’s attention that I needed help.

Eileen, can you log out of this (other) account and then try the link in the email? Be sure to log in with that email address.
Then update us here. And if possible, please cancel the stop payment. It’ll take a few days to do that, but once it’s clear and you’re logged in with that account, we can take care of the refund if needed.

I’m moving on to another site for my blog. This is too confusing and time-consuming. Thanks for your help.
I just tried one last time, and the domain was cancelled. Better off. This was too difficult. -
The domain, rcetrdr.club, and the Personal Plan attached to that site has not been cancelled.
The only way to cancel those is to log into the correct WordPress.com account that you used to buy those.
Go to https://wordpress.com/me/ and click the Log Out link.
Then go to https://wordpress.com/log-in and log in using the email address at which you received the receipt email.

Thanks so much!! I will proceed with this free account until I get to know more about WordPress.
I’m glad I didn’t lose everything–thanks to you!! -
Forget above reply. Now I have a cart that has a $68 balance, including a $15 chargeback fee. I quit WordPress.com
Thanks for trying to help. -
Typically, you can cancel and refund these via https://wordpress.com/me/purchases in accordance with our refund policy https://wordpress.com/support/manage-purchases/#refund-policy
However, instead you initiated a chargeback dispute with your credit card provider: https://wordpress.com/support/payment/chargebacks/
We can still issue a refund for this, but as a chargeback process hits us with a $15 fee, that will need to be paid if you choose to continue with the account.

You cannot close your account at this time, because there is a pending chargeback for a recent renewal payment.
We offer a full refund on all upgrades if you contact us within 30 days. But if you dispute a charge instead, you are essentially accusing us of fraud, and the payment is frozen pending an investigation. Additionally, your site is locked pending payment of a chargeback fee. You won’t be able to close your account until both the dispute is resolved, and the chargeback fee is paid.
You can read our full policy here:
If you are willing to cancel the dispute with your bank we might still be able to refund you ourselves and remove the lock with you having to pay the chargeback fee. Otherwise you will need to wait for our payment processor to complete their investigation, which could take eight to twelve weeks, and you will also need to pay the chargeback fee before you’ll be able to close the account.
