  I was told to use wordpress to build my site. It says that I can build a website for free and when I try to begin the process it wants me to pay. What’s the deal?

  Hello there,

  I think there may be some confusion going on here.

  There are two types of WordPress. WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress. Self-hosted WordPress is where the software is downloaded from WordPress.org for free and installed on a hosting provider.

  When a site is created on WordPress.com, the default plan is free, and we also have paid plans too: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
