  I signed up to begin creating a website and chose a theme. First, when I signed up last night I had to choose a blog name that was different from the actual name I wanted for my website since it was already taken. How can I change this down the road? I also chose a theme that I now do not like. How can I change this now? I found a theme (Compass) that I liked on WordPress.org. Is it possible after I play around with creating a website on WordPress.com to upgrade and use this theme?
  There are many options and steps and I really want to try to create something on my own before asking for help from other family members.

  Hi,
  You can edit the name of your website any time in the future. This article will help you with the instructions on it. Please do remember that once you change the blog URL to a new address, the old one will be unavailable to anyone including yourself, so please be sure you don’t want the blog address ever again.

  You can change themes for your site anytime from the theme manager. The theme manager is available in your site dashboard.

  You can also search for themes on WordPress.com from here and apply any of them directly from the themes directory. Not all themes from the WordPress.org directory are available at WordPress.com. Not all themes match the security and quality standards at WordPress.com and only high quality themes are available at WordPress.com I am afraid you have to pick one of the themes available in the WordPress.com theme directory since the compass theme is not available at WordPress.com.

  Hi there,
  Understood. :) Please always (1) click the ‘member” link under the username of the OP, (2) confirm where the blog is hosted, and then (3) examine the sidebar tags before answering a thread. Experienced Volunteers here post “Duplicate” “already answered” in these cases.
