Getting started

I selected a template, but I cannot find it or work my way around your site. I do NOT want to create a blog, just a website – and cannot fathom out how to do this. I have used WIX for years easily, so am not stupid. But the template of yours has vanished. Please help I do not want to go back to my previous company :-(
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Go to the template (aka. themes) page: https://theme.wordpress.com/
You can browse through the list or click one one of the categories to see only the newest, for example. If you click the “find a theme” button, that opens up a menu where you can filter the results or enter a search term.
Mouseover a theme to see the options. Clicking the theme’s name will take you to an information page. The “live demo” button will take you to a page with sample content using that theme. Free themes will have a “use this theme” button which will allow you to activate it on your blog. Premium themes will have a “buy this theme” button which will take you through the steps to purchase the theme to use on your blog.
You may find one of the following guides helpful for creating a website (instead of a blog) on WordPress.com.

Thank you so much Micawbr! I have found it and even managed to add some pages :-) I will study the links you have sent.
Do you know if it is possible to change the text in the navigation bar to lowercase? They are all appearing as uppercase.
I’m sure that once I get used to wordpress it will be fine – it’s just hard after using another platform for so long!
Thanks for taking the time to help me :-)

You’re welcome. I’m glad to hear your having success.
Some themes, such as the one you’re currently using, convert the text to uppercase. Some convert the text to lowercase and some do no alter it. If you’re on the free or personal WordPress.com plan, then the navigation case can’t be changed. You could look for another theme that’s more to your liking.
If you have the Premium plan, then you can use something called Custom CSS to alter the text. For that, go to My Sites > Settings > Themes > Customize. Then go to Custom Design > CSS and enter this code below the text that is already there:
.main-navigation, .main-navigation a { text-transform: lowercase; }
