Getting started on wordpress.

  I bought a 2008 WordPress for Dummies.When I went through the steps the home page does not match the wordpress home page. There was no my account, file, edit, view, etc .Did I do this wrong or is the book outdated? Help!!

  There have been substantial changes to wp.COM and wp.ORG since 2008.
  Also, are you aware that there are different flavors of wordpress?
