Getting started, want to edit name & domain question

    I am brand new to this and still have a ton to learn. I began setting up my blog a couple months ago but have not gotten very far. I want to change the name.

    Currently it is thetangledtulip.wordpress.com
    I wanted to make a slight change to that….

    My email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff)—which will stay the same.

    Can you help me make this transition? I haven’t added any content yet nor completed setup…i was just thinking i could permanently shut the original one down and recreate one with the amended name…however, I read where you can’t start a new one under the same email address for 30 days if you do that. Am I understanding that correctly?

    Lastly, if I purchase a domain, someone could go straight to my site with a .com and not have to enter the .wordpress.com—correct?

    Hi there, it is never recommended you delete a blog unless you’re definitely done with it. You can amend the site name without deleting anything!

    If you just want to change the name and not the actual address, please follow this guide instead: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/general-settings/

    Yes, if you purchase a dotcom custom domain, visitors would not need to enter the “.wordpress” part of your URL in their address bar.
