Getting the layout to look like template

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi! I’ve 2 questions:

    1. I’ve tagged 4 posts with ‘Featured2018’ and written this into the ‘Homepage Settings’ to draw them onto the homepage but they won’t appear? Do you have any advice? On the posts which are there they look different to the template where it’s white in the box underneath but for some reason colour on mine?

Q2: Ideally I want all the archive blog articles to be in a ‘Blog’ heading (top right) but also don’t know how to achieve this? Currently they are just endlessly listed on my homepage which looks overwhelming!

    This is my website: https://ecomodernstudios.wordpress.com

    Thanks for your help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I’m seeing the 4 posts you have set with your featured tag on your home page right now. You can set the number of post that show in the section below the featured posts, and for date archive, category and tag pages at My Sites > Settings > Writing. Scroll down to Content Types and set Blog posts to display the number of posts you want.

If you still need help on this, or have additional questions, please let us know.

Thanks for your help. I followed your steps and selected ‘3’ to feature but all blog posts are still being shown on the homepage.

Ideally I would like to split my blog posts onto 3 different pages which would be clickable top right under the headings. Is this possible and if so how please as I don’t want all the posts to be stored on the home page (a little overwhelming!)

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Sounds like what you may be looking for is category pages. Using category pages you’ll be able to split your posts up into “groupings” and link to them from the menu. See:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/

As for the home page, I think part of the confusion may be your current theme, Perle, is designed to showcase portfolio items at the top then display all blog posts below. If you really like the design of that theme one solution could be to use a static homepage then use category pages as described above.

Hopefully, this helps and let us know if you have other questions.
