Getting this error message when trying to add ‘R&B’ tag to my blog posts: ‘The editor has encountered an unexpected error.’
-
I’ve made some blog posts, with no errors at all, but today when trying to add a especific tag to one of my posts the editor started to crash. The tag, as mentioned on the subject, is ‘R&B’, I’d guess it has something to do with the ‘&’ character. What could it be ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello @fernandoacouto,
I’ve tried to recreate your scenario on one of my test blogs and did not get an editor error when adding the tag ‘R&B’ to a post.
Can you provide some more details about how you’re adding the tag? For example, are you using the tag module to add tags or another method?
Knowing what steps you’re taking when this error occurs will help troubleshoot. :)

Hello @charleybea,
sorry for the late reply, a friend of mine was able to insert the tag properly, as you did too. It’s indeed weird that it only occurs with me. Any thoughts ?

Hi there,
This is a bug in the block editor in the core WordPress software. For some reason the editor doesn’t like the ampersand character in tags, but only if you’re re-using a previously-added tag – if you add the tag for the first time it accepts it just fine.
The WordPress.org team is already working on this in https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/12832, so you can follow along on progress there, though I’ll also update you here once it is fixed. Meanwhile you might need to use the classic editor to add that tag, or add it using the quick-edit option in WP-Admin rather than the editor itself:
