Getting to my own dashboard.

I find it rather weird that in order to get to my dashboard after reading some other blogs I have to *carefully* point the cursor at my name in the top right corner, then *carefully* slide it down to the name of my blog, then *carefully* choose the “dashboard” on the left. One wrong movement of the the cursor and I have to start it over again.

    erm .. why?

There is this lovely black menu on the top of the page. It’s totally empty. Well, maybe it looks neat this way, quite sterile I would say, but it’s also useless this way. How comfortable the life could be if the buttons I constantly press while using wordpress were within reach and not within this cursor dance.

    Alexandra.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you read the announcement in the official wordpress.com blog?
Enjoy A Shiny New, Simplified Admin Bar
After reading it if you have feedback for Staff you can send it in to them on Monday by using this link.

    Timethief, thank you!
I just read it now, after you showed me the link. So there was a comfortable menu on the top with all the buttons at hand and they hid them so that it can look emptier.

    An interesting decision.

The other link that you left seem to lead to the support form which I’m supposed to complete. I don’t really think my feedback could be decisive.

Was it wrong to post the suggestion here in the forum? I just thought it was for ideas and suggestions and so on, that’s why I did it.

Since the “go pro” link appeared on the Admin bar I have begun to think that there may be plans for adding more links for the Admin bar in the works.

No it was not wrong to post here. The Ideas Forum is for making suggestions to Staff for improvements to features and functions. :)

Oh, you are right, btw, about that ‘go pro’ link! Now when I look at it, it’s even more upsetting :) I mean I have the advert ( because it is, in a way, an advert) in a place where I could have my comfortable “dashboard” button.

Anyway, those are just minor things. They don’t make the life super-difficult. It just felt odd to me so I decided to share.

Thank you for your answers, Timethief!

Indeed we do have advertising on our our Admin bar, on our Dashboards, and on our blogs too. Bloggers in the 21-to-35 year-old demographic group account for 53.3% of the total blogging population. The younger generation directly interacts with brands and companies through social media, and recent studies show that 24 percent of the 16 -to 34-year-olds do think advertising is appealing. In contrast 50 percent of those over 55 years old said they avoid websites where ads would pop up and “interrupt their online activities. Interestingly, the silver surfer like me account for 70 percent of the U.S. net worth, controlling $9 trillion and the younger demographic group is deeply in debt.

WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read features page, or advertising entry in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all. The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

That’s interesting info. I’ve seen the second part in other topics :)

I don’t mind adverts. I just said the blue go pro button is sitting just where my useful ‘dashboard’ one could sit comfortably. :)

I don’t think that the Admin bar configuration is likely to be reverted back to what it was but one never knows.
