getting to the original costs….
-
When I joined WordPress back in March 2007 it costed nothing. Now, I am being asked to pay in excess of $100 to continue. What must I do to lower the cost or hell, what should I do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com has always been, and will always be, free to use: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
As has also always been the case, you only need to purchase a plan if you want to use the additional features offered by that plan.

Thank you macmanx, Sir!
Is there anything that I can do to stop the “Powers that Be” so that whilst I get away from the Premium package that I somehow am on to get to my site and see the changes that need to be made?
I’m sure you understand that I do not want to lose 3,100 articles that span beyond a decade. -
I do see that you used to have a WordPress.com Premium plan for $99 on https://onemorecup.wordpress.com/
That expired on May 27 when it wasn’t renewed.
At that point, the site basically reverted to its original free state. You still have all of your content, and you won’t be charged anything (unless you want to of course), but if you were using any of the paid features on the site, those are no longer available.
You don’t have to pay anything, you won’t lose anything (except access to those paid features), and your site will be free forever.
