Getting to the page where I’m able to click on Free site

    I start off with entering my domain name which I purchased elsewhere and from there I can’t get to the page where I can choose which type of site. In my case Free so that I can try how the site works.

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Hi there!

    It seems you are just starting to use WordPress.com. You can follow this tutorial that shows you how to set up your account and add a new site or blog.

    There it is explained how to select a free domain to try the site out.
    Later you could link your domain name purchased elsewhere so don’t worry about it at this stage.

    Hi there,

    If you want to start out with a free site to just try things out, you’ll need to skip the domains step for now and use the free example.wordpress.com address we provide.

    Connecting your own domain that’s registered somewhere else to your site is only possible if you have a paid plan, so the moment you try to add a domain connection upgrade, you will be required to upgrade to a paid plan before you’ll be able to continue.
