Getting unwanted “category 1”
-
When I make a new post on any of my blogs, a new category called 1 is automatically created. It’s not visible/available as a category when I’m writing the post. I do go back and delete the 1 category, change the category of the post, but the next post I make, category 1 is created.
Why is this happening and how can I stop it from happening again?
-
Sounds like you somehow created it as your default category. Go to Settings—> Writing and select a new default category. Once you do this, then go to Manage—-> Categories and delete the 1 category.

You had “1” set as the default category on one of your blogs. I have changed the default category for posts and deleted this category for you.

1 isn’t the default category. For my personal blog, that’s “life” and the other two blogs, it’s “runescape”. I made a post to my personal blog 5 minutes ago and the dreaded 1 showed up.
When is shows up on a post, I go to Manage>Posts>Edit and change it to the default. Then, I go to Manage>Categories and delete it.
I’m going to change everything back to Uncategorized and see if that fixes it.

Well, now I have the 1 is showing up *and* Uncategorized. I’m such a dummy lol. I’ll just ignore any default categories and actually click on what I want. :P

The default category is set at Settings->Writing, not Manage->Posts->Edit. One of your blogs did have “1” set as the default category when I looked. If this continues to happen, please let us know which blog is giving you the problem.
