Hm, I’m not sure what you’re referring to.
Would you please elaborate?
Also, what is the domain name?
-
Hi greenhouse49 — is this about salisburygreenhouseandgifts.wordpress.com
?If not, you might be in the wrong forum (see this link), but we can probably try to point you in the right direction for help.
What is the website?
Also, if Name Cheap gave you a link with instructions, can you share that?

I have a store on face book. I was wanting to connect a site for a direct ship program to the face book page and I needed a domain name to do so. I opened you tube and found a video on how to get the domain name and the cheapest place to get which was Name Cheap. I acquired the domain name salisburygreenhouseandgifts.com. Then I was to go into face book manager go under domains and type it in. There was a meta verification number that I was to put on the clip board, then go to word press and follow the instructions on the video. My screen wasn’t like the one on the video as my site come up as salisburygreenhouseandgifts.wordpress which I don’t want under wordpress. Now that is where I got frustrated and threw my hands in the air. So that is where I am at. I want to get to where I can do the direct ship programs or affiliate from my page on face book. Thanks

Hi there,
Do you already have a site, or did you only buy the domain?
And What site do you want to use your domain, salisburygreenhouseandgifts.com, with? Do you want to use it with salisburygreenhouseandgifts.wordpress.com that you have hosted with us? Or do you want to use it with a WordPress site you created at NameCheap?
To clarify, “WordPress” can mean one of two things – there’s the open source software that’s made on WordPress.org, and that you can use at a hosting provider like NameCheap; and there’s WordPress.com, another hosting provider for that software.
If your website is hosted at NameCheap, you need to connect your domain to that site following their instructions. Then you can ask the WordPress.org community for advice on how best to do the Facebook verification in their forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/. I’m guessing the Youtube video you watched on this also deals with that version of WordPress, which is why it doesn’t match what you see here on WordPress.com.
If you want to use the domain with your site here on WordPress.com, you’ll need to upgrade to one of our paid plans, so you can link the domain to the site using our Domain Connection upgrade:
https://wordpress.com/en/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
Then you can follow our steps at the link below to verify the site with your Facebook page:
https://wordpress.com/support/site-verification-services/#facebook-business-verification
Let me know if you have any questions.

I don’t have anyone hosting my site and I don’t have any plans. The only thing I have purchased is my domain name on Namecheap. Then I was to go to this site and add the plugin to FB. I am trying to get verified so I can use shareasale to sign up for affiliate programs threw some of my wholesalers and wanting to add them to my FB store. As far as I know I don’t need a plan. Am just trying to get verified for FB book store. Please advise.

Hi @greenhouse49,
Could you please share a link to the YouTube video (and any other resources) that you were referring to? I’d like to ensure we’re giving you the best response based on what you’ve been looking at.
In general, verifying a domain name goes with the assumption that you have website hosted somewhere, like NameCheap or WordPress.com.
You do already have the
salisburygreenhouseandgifts.wordpress.comsite hosted on WordPress.com. However, your domain name isn’t associated with it, as my colleagues noted earlier. If you would like to connect your
salisburygreenhouseandgifts.comdomain to your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to purchase a plan upgrade by going to Upgrades → Plans. If you plan to use a plugin, such as ShareASale, you would need a Business plan or higher. What plugin were you looking to use?
I look forward to hearing back from you.

What is the reason I cant connect my domain to my FB web page. I have my own store on FB and can list items there for sale. I guess I don’t understand why this is so complicated that a person like me can’t find simple instructions on how to do this. I just want to be able to add the shareasale to my FB store without having to buy a plan.
Darl -
Ah ok, to do this, please follow the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/site-verification-services/#facebook-business-verification
Please note that Facebook requires you to have a custom domain name for this. You cannot use salisburygreenhouseandgifts.wordpress.com because they will not let you verify wordpress.com.
We have a few ways to add a domain name to your account at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#add-a-domain-name and all will require a paid plan (any paid plan).
To recap in short, you can verify your site here with Facebook, but Facebook will require you to have a custom domain, which requires a paid plan here.

So if I have to get a paid plan does this mean I can have my own online store to sell on line with my domain name that I have purchased and then hosted by wordpress?
I can’t afford these higher priced plans as I am not that big of a store. Thats why I wanted to get where I could do affiliate direct ship from my suppliers that offer them to generate more income for my store. I know I may be a pain but I am 72 and I know some about computers but this is a first for me. I will wait for an answer from you before being verified but still want my face book store.

If you want to sell products directly from your site with us, our Business or eCommerce plan lets you set up an online store, with built-in shipping and payment options, and the ability to add additional features using plugins.
On our cheaper plans you can also sell products using our PayPal options (https://wordpress.com/en/support/pay-with-paypal/ on Premium, or https://wordpress.com/en/support/paypal/ on free and Personal), but that would be manual, requiring you to have a contact form to take orders, with a PayPal button separate from that for receiving payments.
If your actual store is on Facebook, rather than on your site, then all you need is the Personal Plan so you can connect your domain here, which will allow you to verify your site on Facebook’s end.

If I purchase the small business plan can I go head and get verifyed on my FB store as you have instructed and still have the on line store? Can I use the shareasale plugin on both? Is there any support if I decided to go with the small business plan as this is all going to be new to me. If I go with the small business plan is there a limit as to how many products you can put on. Is there a video on you tube that can give me some insite as to what you will do to get me up and going.
Thanks

The only thing Facebook requires from you is a working custom domain. A domain is just an address, it does not contain the site. Here, on WordPress.com, you already have a site. Now to use a custom domain, you need to purchase one of our paid plans. Depending on which plan will you choose, you can create a full-on online store (with a shopping cart, etc), or sell items and receive payments using our Payments block.
You mentioned “small business plan”, I understand that you’re referring to the Business plan: https://wordpress.com/support/business-plan/, is that right?
Can I use the shareasale plugin on both?
Business plan allows you to use any WordPress-compatible plugin. You can search for those at https://wordpress.org/plugins/, or at https://woocommerce.com/products/, if you decide to use WooCommerce to create your store.
Is there any support if I decided to go with the small business plan as this is all going to be new to me.
Business plan comes with 24/7 live chat support. Bear in mind, however, that we would not build the site for you:
https://wordpress.com/support/live-chat/.
We also organize free daily webinars, Thursdays are for creating e-commerce sites. You can sign up for those here:
https://wordpress.com/webinars/.
You can also watch the video of a past webinar here.
If I go with the small business plan is there a limit as to how many products you can put on.
No, there is no limit to the number of products you can offer in your store.
Is there a video on you tube that can give me some insite as to what you will do to get me up and going.
I’d suggest checking our YouTube playlist with past webinars on different topics:

If I go ahead and purchase the Premium for $8.00 a month so I can get verified on FB can I add products here and upgrade later to a regular business plan?
Thanks
Darl -
Hi @greenhouse49,
The Premium plan is a good start for verifying your domain with Facebook and getting a site started. You can later upgrade to the Business plan if you are planning to use WooCommerce.
With that said, you mentioned that you would like to start adding products right away — is your goal to use WooCommerce for that? If yes, please keep in mind that WooCommerce is not available on a Premium plan, and you might want to choose Business from the onset.
Third-party plugins, such as ShareASale can only be installed on a Business plan or higher as well.
Either way, you can verify your domain with Facebook on any WordPress.com plan. Here’s how: https://wordpress.com/support/site-verification-services/#facebook-business-verification
As an aside — considering that you already use Facebook to sell products, they offer a plugin that allows you to upload your WooCommerce store catalog. Something worth considering in the future as your site grows: https://wordpress.org/plugins/facebook-for-woocommerce/
Just let me know if you have any other questions.
